Kaleidoscope of Options

Sometimes having too many options can be a curse, rather than a blessing. I often think this is what afflicts many women, such as myself, who complain that they have nothing to wear, even though they have a closet full of options. Picking from too many things is oddly just as stifling as picking from too few options. This is always what happens when I decide to wear my crazy kaleidoscopic skirt from Tracy Reese. To be honest, it's one of my favorite skirts from the last few years or so due to the fact that it features every color in the rainbow, but because of this it's often difficult to decide what to wear it with because you actually could wear it with just about anything. The sky is the limit!

I decided, because it is still technically winter (although lately here in Los Angeles it feels more like summer with temperatures into the nineties!), to go with a more subdued color on top. In this case it is a dark maroon wool sweater. The subtle color of the top and my nude shoes allows for some experimentation with more colorful accessories. In mixing some neutrals with neon I hopefully avoided looking like a walking box of crayons!

I also was presented with a variety of options regarding backdrops. Unfortunately, the sun was out in full force the day of these photos, which made for some awkward shadows. Although this limited my backdrop choices, I was given two really good ones. I couldn't decide between the colorful bicycle racks, which happen to match my skirt, and the citrus mural that also matched my skirt. As you can see, I selected both. Why not take advantage of as many options as you can?

    1. Thank you Suzanne! I was lucky that I snagged this skirt before it sold out last spring. It was one of the few things that I was willing to pay full price for at Anthro.

  3. Once again you hit the nail on the head and made the perfect pairing! Love the toned down top with the skirt and the bright pop from the bag just adds to the coolness of it all together. Another great outfit! XO -Kim

    1. Thank you Shea! I am always conscious of trying not to be too matchy matchy with color, so I appreciate you pointing that out. It's hard sometimes to find a balance when you are dealing with so many colors.
