Something Like a Poinsettia

I have been waiting almost a year to wear this top with a red skirt because I feel like the combination would only work around Christmas time due to the color scheme.  Lately I have been trying to wear as many things as possible that I deem as "holiday wear". This list includes plaids, sequins, bows, things made from taffeta and fair isle sweaters in the red/green color palette. It's like the 12 days of Christmas: a different ensemble for every day.  I think I like the stuff that comes out around the holidays best because of all the glitter, sparkles and sumptuous silk and wool fabrics.

For some reason the combination of this skirt and blouse also makes me feel like a Poinsettia plant which can be found everywhere this time of the year. I bought the blouse, the J. Crew Hothouse Floral Chiffon, last year on clearance, but it cropped up again at The Factory. I am pretty sure it is sold out online, but a few stragglers might be left in store. I like the odd mix of colors used and the shape was a bit different than other silhouettes I have hanging up in my closet.

Here is a quick glimpse of the poinsettia I picked up a few weeks ago at the 99 Cent Only Store. It's a little bit of "Percy the Puny Poinsettia" but hey it was only 99 cents!

Blouse: J. Crew Chiffon Hothouse Floral Blouse (Similar print on a skirt here)

    1. Thanks Lisa! I had to "retouch" my lips just a tad because at the end of the day, most of my makeup seems to have vanished!
