Lilac and Hyacinth

Lilac is such a beautiful pastel purple color. It seems like cotton candy pastels are everywhere this spring in the world of fashion. During what is referred to as a "pop-back" of items on the J. Crew website, I came across the Edie bag in Hyacinth. Okay, so J. Crew picked another flower to describe the color... I am sticking to Lilac so I can share the "poem" below. Plus, while I am not a botanist, I can't really tell the difference between the two flowers. I just Googled pictures of them and they look almost exactly the same to my untrained eye.

Anyway, I decided that a bag that was named after a flower would go perfectly with a floral skirt. The J. Crew floral collection skirt in flame floral jacquard seemed to be the perfect floral choice. In my opinion the collection pieces offered by J. Crew always seem very pricey, but I fell in love with the vibrant field of flowers on this one and decided it was worth a little extra "dough."

Last off all, I am including a picture of a poem (seems like a contradiction right?) that I find to be quite intriguing. It is aptly named "Lilac" by Mary Ellen Solt. "Lilac" is a concrete poem which forms a picture. If you look very closely at it, not only does it look like a Lilac (or possibly a hyacinth because I still think they're the same thing) but also spells out the world Lilac. Examine it closely and you'll say "Ah-ha!" and a light bulb will go off!

    1. Thank Laura (necklace twin)! I love this necklace too. It is somewhat similar to some being offered at Kate Spade this season.
