Colorful Abstract Skirt

 

Everyone knows I love a colorful skirt, so when I found this fun skirt at Target last month it was love at first sight! I adore the colorful abstract print and, in my opinion, the skirt looks like more of a designer piece than something you might find at Target. In this post I am showing how I styled the skirt in two slightly different ways. Luckily, all of the bright colors found in the print provide endless styling possibilities! Below I styled the skirt with a simple yellow tee and these purple sandals that I just picked up at the outlet mall.

 

As you can see, the second way I wore the skirt isn't all that different from the first. For the look below, the weather was hot, so I chose a green tank and also some silver sandals to keep things cool. I kept the same pink bag because it really brings out the pink in the pattern.  In the future, I could see pattern mixing with the skirt by adding a black and white striped top or, if it's cooler, adding a blazer for a more polished look. The styling possibilities are as endless as the colors!

Colorful Striped Pencil Skirt

 

I've been waiting for a while to wear this colorful striped pencil skirt from Milly. I purchased it a couple months ago, but I just never got around to wearing it. I also purchased the matching cardigan that looks very cute when paired with the pencil skirt. However, it's very hot here (it is the middle of summer, after all!) and I just couldn't bear to put on a sweater and take photos in this heat! Maybe when the fall rolls around and the weather cools off, which isn't usually until November here in Southern California, I can photograph the two pieces together. Anyway, both the skirt and the sweater are now on sale at Milly, so now is a great time to snag them and hold on to them for the upcoming fall months!

 

One item that I am getting a lot of use out of this summer is my light blue Teddy Blake bag! The light blue color is really perfect in the summer months and it ties into one of the many colors of this skirt. Obviously, many colors would go with this skirt, but I wanted to go with a hue that was on the lighter side for summer. When you see me style this skirt again in the cooler months, I might go with a red bag, but cooler weather seems like such a long time away!

Rainbow Maxi Dress

 

In looking at these pictures of my rainbow maxi dress, I can't help but smile because I love anything with rainbows but I also kind of wince in pain because I slipped and took a really bad fall while wearing this dress the day these photos were taken. (Just to be clear, it was not the fault of the dress but of a very slippery floor!) To make a long story short, I ended up falling on my knees and, to be honest, my knees have not been quite the same since. Now that it's summer break and I'm home during the day, I'm starting to see a lot of accident attorney ads on television and I'm thinking maybe I should have taken legal action! Well, hopefully, my knees will be back to normal soon and, on the bright side, at least my dress was unscathed!

 

So getting back to the dress, this dress is a part of the Kohl's collaboration with Draper James, which is a line called RSVP. I really love the line because the pieces are supper cute and the prices are more affordable than Draper James' regular collection. In fact, you might recall that I also have this rainbow print in a top, which I featured a couple of months ago on the blog. I guess you can say that I have fallen for this particular print!
